How well do you handle irony and sarcasm?
Imagine that someone tells you: "Oh sure, you're definitely the best driver in the world!" How would you react?
I will smile and say something funny at my own expense.
I will take it seriously and start explaining what kind of driver I really am.
I'll joke back and add even more irony.
I don't know if he's serious about it, so I'd rather not react.
I thank you and will take it as a compliment.
When you see someone trying to be funny but their humor is awkward, what do you think?
I appreciate the effort, even though I am not laughing.
I hope he is not aware of it himself, otherwise it would be even worse.
I would rather laugh so that he doesn't feel bad.
I feel uncomfortable, but I don't want to be rude.
I enjoy it – awkward moments have their charm.
How would you react if you were joking and someone corrected you completely seriously?
I continue with irony to see when it will dawn on him.
I will think about whether I told the joke correctly.
I'll tell him I'm just joking and change the subject.
I'll try to switch to softer humor so I don't lose it.
I'll leave it at that; obviously, we don't have the same sense of humor.
A friend tells you: "Great, you definitely did it perfectly!" How do you understand it?
As a compliment, if I don't sense sarcasm in the tone.
As a mockery, I probably didn't succeed.
As a challenge, to check if it was really good.
As a test, to see if I can recognize his tone of voice.
As a common note, I don't think about it.
How do you feel when someone uses very dry sarcasm that is almost indistinguishable?
I enjoy it, but I have to stay alert.
Sometimes I'm not sure if it's still a joke or reality.
It can be fun, but sometimes it comes across as arrogant.
I’d rather avoid such people, it’s exhausting.
I consider it the epitome of intelligent humor.
If you had to choose between classic humor and sarcasm, which one would you pick?
Sarcasm, I love word play.
Classic humor, sometimes the sarcasm is too harsh.
The combination of both, everything depends on the situation.
It depends on the people - not everyone understands irony.
I don't know, humor is a subjective matter.
Imagine that someone humorously says, "Well, you're definitely the best singer I’ve ever heard!" What will you do?
I will intentionally start singing even more off-key.
I will laugh and say thank you for the support.
I will take it seriously and ask myself if I am really that bad.
I'll return the favor with a similar joke.
I don't know, maybe he meant it sincerely.
How do you perceive people who dislike irony and sarcasm?
I understand them, not everyone likes it.
I feel a bit sorry for them; they are missing out on a lot.
Sometimes I deliberately test them to see if they notice.
I am trying to adapt to them and I am using different humor.
I prefer not to talk to them about jokes.
If you had to explain irony to someone who doesn't understand it, how would you do it?
I'll give him an example and observe his reaction.
I probably wouldn't even attempt it.
I will try to explain it to him logically, but simply.
I will use something from his life so that he understands it.
I'll let him figure it out himself – that's the point of irony.
What is your attitude towards black humor?
I like him, but in moderation.
I often find him too harsh.
It is genius when it is done well.
It depends on the company I am in.
It can be funny, but it’s not always appropriate.
