Age Diversity: Why Differences Become a Strength
Imagine that you are part of a team where the youngest member is 19 years old and the oldest is 68. What is your first thought?
It can be a challenge – everyone will have a different perspective on the matter.
It sounds like a great opportunity to learn something new.
We will need to align first, otherwise it won't work.
I hope the elders won't slow down the pace.
I hope that the younger ones will respect experience.
If you had to entrust a sensitive project to a colleague who is much younger than you, what would you decide?
His abilities, not his age.
How he behaved in the past – whether he is responsible.
My intuition – for some things, a person simply believes or does not believe.
I probably wouldn't feel comfortable – I might prefer to supervise instead.
I would rather take care of it myself.
Imagine a workplace conflict between a 25-year-old and a 55-year-old colleague. How would you prefer to resolve it?
Let them sort it out among themselves – everyone has their own style.
I would help them understand the mutual differences.
It matters who has better arguments.
I would consider who has been in the company longer.
Conflicts are natural - age is not the main issue.
Who would you rather consult about an important decision?
With someone older who has experienced a lot.
With a younger one who may see things differently.
With someone as old as me.
It depends on the topic – each generation knows something different.
First with myself – I need to sort this out.
How would you feel if your supervisor was significantly younger than you?
Curious – how will he manage it.
A bit strange – but if he has respect, I have no problem.
It would make me uncomfortable.
I would take it as a challenge – maybe I will learn something.
What is important is how it communicates and makes decisions.
When someone frequently uses phrases like "in our days," what do you think?
He understands things differently – he has his own experience.
He may not be completely open to change.
It's normal – everyone gets tied to something.
Such statements irritate me a little.
It matters whether he speaks with respect or condescension.
Your team is tasked with proposing something innovative. Who should lead the brainstorming session?
The one who has the most energy – regardless of age.
Someone who knows how to moderate a discussion well.
The youngest – maybe he will bring a fresh perspective.
Someone experienced, who also knows the obstacles.
We would take turns – everyone has something to say.
Imagine an older colleague who is not proficient in technology. What would you do?
I will offer him help – we all learn.
I will consider whether it even belongs to his agenda.
Let them study it – like everyone else.
I would rather entrust that part to someone else.
I will help, but only if asked.
At the company party, young people start talking about trends that you don't understand. How will you react?
I'm asking – it might interest me.
I observe and smile – it's not my topic.
I will remind them that not everything modern is wise.
I will try to find a bridge between their world and mine.
I would rather join another group.
If you were to create the ideal team, how would you assemble it?
From different generations - everyone knows something different.
According to abilities - age does not play a role.
From people who understand each other – even if they are the same age.
From most of the younger ones – because of the energy and pace.
From the majority of the older ones - for stability and balance.
