Competitions like "Buy and Win!" – what do you think about them?

I see them as manipulative techniques to increase sales.
Sometimes I participate, but only if I would buy the product even without the competition.
I don't pay attention to them, I mostly don't believe that ordinary people really win.
I am interested in the psychological mechanisms that are behind this.
I often participate – maybe one day I will be lucky.
