Growth that matters to you

Start with a specific situation from your life

Marek tells himself he needs to become a better version of himself. At the same time, he starts a new course, changes his daily routine, and promises to spend more time with his family. After a week, he doesn’t know what to prioritize or how to measure his progress. So far, he hasn’t turned a general wish into a decision he can follow through on in an ordinary day.

In this course, we’ll take a practical view of personal growth: understanding your own behavior better and trying to change it in line with a direction you’ve chosen. That doesn’t have to mean performing better or taking on more responsibilities. A meaningful change might also be saying no to another commitment, making decisions more calmly, or paying closer attention during a conversation.

Choose an area based on a specific benefit. Marek might notice that he repeatedly checks work messages during evening conversations. He wants to be more present for his family. That’s a clearer direction than a demand to change his whole personality. His next step is to explore the circumstances, work commitments, and options for reaching an agreement—not to immediately ban every evening phone call.

Separate your own needs from pressure to handle more than other people. Someone else’s success can be an inspiration, but you don’t know all the circumstances or costs behind it. You don’t have to work on every area at once. Accepting what you don’t want to or can’t change right now can be a conscious decision. A person’s worth isn’t determined by how many personal development goals they achieve.

Marek wants to “work on himself,” but new commitments are filling his evenings. Conversations with his family matter to him. Which starting point makes the most sense?
